How we choose
Every recommendation follows the same process, so you can judge how much weight to give it.
What we look at
- Sensitivity. How loud a speaker plays per watt. Outside there are no walls to reflect sound, so efficiency matters more than indoors.
- Weather protection. IP ratings, UV and corrosion testing, and rustproof hardware.
- Amplifier requirements. Whether an ordinary stereo amp can drive it, or it needs a specific one.
- Long-term reliability. Patterns in owner reviews after several years outdoors.
- UK availability. We only recommend products you can buy in the UK today.
Where our information comes from
We start from each manufacturer's published specifications and cross-check them against independent reviews from audio publications and retailers. We then read long-term owner feedback looking for recurring faults. Where a figure isn't published consistently, we say so rather than guess.
Hands-on testing
Our current guides are research-based. Where we have tested a product ourselves, the guide says so clearly.
Updates and corrections
We review every guide at least every three months and whenever a product is discontinued or replaced. Each guide shows the date it was last updated. If you spot an error, email hello@outdoorloudspeakers.com and we'll correct it.
